Cookies

What is a cookie?
A cookie is a simple text file that is stored on your computer or mobile device by a website’s server. Only that server will be able to retrieve or read the contents of that cookie. Each cookie is unique to your web browser. It will contain some anonymous information such as a unique identifier as well as the site name. You can read more about cookies on the About Cookies website.

A cookie in no way gives us access to your computer or any information about you, other than the data you choose to share with us.

How are cookies used?
Cookies do lots of different jobs, including letting you navigate between pages efficiently, storing your preferences, and generally improving your experience of a website. Most websites you visit will use cookies to improve your user experience by enabling that website to “remember” you, either for the duration of your visit (using a “session cookie”) or for repeat visits (using a “persistent cookie”).

If a website doesn’t use cookies, it will think you are a visiting the website for the first time every time you move to a new page on the site – for example, when you enter your login details and move to another page the website won’t recognise you and it won’t be able to keep you logged in.

How do we use cookies?
We use cookies to improve your shopping experience by doing things like:

  • Keeping your chosen products in your basket
  • Analysing web page traffic so we can improve our web site.
  • Remembering the way you like to view our website

We also use them to maintain the security of our website, determining if you are logged in user, visitor or a bot, as well as identifying repeat visitors and allowing country blocking.

Accepting or Declining Cookies
When you first land on our website, we’ll show you a message to let you know that we use cookies, and to ask for your consent to store them on your device. You can disable cookies if you prefer within your internet browser settings. This may prevent you from taking full advantage of the website. To learn how to disable cookies we suggest consulting the Help section of your browser or taking a look at the About Cookies website which offers guidance for all modern browsers.

Links to third party websites

We may occasionally provide links to third party websites to help you find other relevant information. Please be aware that any such site will not be governed by this privacy policy, and we therefore cannot be responsible for the protection and privacy of any information which you provide whilst using it. The Book Depository
To help customers, our site includes lists of recommended books on truffles and dog training. Other than The Truffle Book by Gareth Renowden, we do not sell them directly. If you click on the ‘Details ‘ button for any title, you are taken, in a new browser window, to the web site of The Book Depository. None of your details are transferred to their web site.
