A lady from Kent was this morning walking her 8 month Boston terrier in the local park. He started digging and was so focused nothing could stop him, even other dogs that were trying to play with him. What was he after, you guessed, a summer truffle buried an inch or two in the soil. Some dogs are just born truffle hunters! Sadly, as the photo shows, the inside (gleba) is still light in colour so it is unripe. Another month or two and they should be getting darker with the aroma and flavour increasing.
